We have many new members who may not know the history of this group. Time to share, and remind everybody how Buddies came about.
This group, created by Lisa in 2012, has become something rather special. More than simply a CarFest fan group. It has grown into a supportive and loving community. We have seen lifelong friendships form, and watched children grow from toddlers to teenagers! There have been highs and lows, some sadness, but oh, so much love and happiness!
We currently have just over 18,700 members and every year our numbers swell in the weeks leading up to the event, and for several weeks afterwards. Of course, not everyone is active in the group, but there is a solid core of regulars who provide information, sharing their knowledge and just being good eggs!
Your admin team comprises Lisa, Michelle, Keith, Mel and me. And we love this group – most of the time, anyway!
In 2015, the group started fundraising for the CarFest charities too. I created a Buddies Badge so that we could recognize each other at the event and had some great meetups! Last year I expanded the fundraising by creating Have-a-Go-Heroes. To date, we have raised over £15K.
